Email

Your Gluon email address, forwarding bills and documents to it, allowed senders, sending email with approval, family inboxes and forwarded requests.

Your Gluon can have its own email address. Forward it bills, tickets, school circulars and reports, then ask questions about them, or have Gluon send email for you.

Open Settings → Email and choose a name. Your address is <name>.inbox@ followed by Gluon’s email domain, shown on that page.

  • Names are 3 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens, start with a letter and end with a letter or number.
  • The name is permanent. It can’t be renamed or released later.
  • There’s one address per member, for your Gluon; custom agents don’t get their own.

The address only receives mail: it isn’t a login or a mailbox for an email app. Disable receiving rejects new mail without deleting what you have or releasing the name.

By default only your own Gluon sign-in address can send to your Gluon address. Add up to 10 more under Allowed email addresses. Matching ignores capital letters, but treats aliases, +tags and dots as different addresses.

The simplest way in is to forward mail yourself from your sign-in address. Automatic forwarding rules and mailing services may send from a different address than the one you see, which then needs allowing.

The Email page lists your mail, newest first, 30 at a time; Load more goes further back. Open a message to read it as plain text and preview its attachments beside it. Your attachments also appear in Files under From email.

  • Ask Gluon: “What’s the due date on the electricity bill I forwarded?” or “Summarise the school’s email about the trip.”
  • Analyze in chat on a message opens a new chat with a draft you can edit and send.
  • Gluon reads PDFs, text, CSV and JSON attachments up to 8 MiB; other files are kept for download. Scanned PDFs can’t be read as text.
  • An email can be up to 10 MiB with up to 50 attachments. Your inbox holds up to 1 GiB.
  • Gluon treats email content as information, never as instructions.

Choose 7 days, 30 days (the default), 3 months, 6 months or 1 year in the inbox settings. Age counts from when Gluon received the email. Shortening the period can delete older mail straight away, and deleted mail can’t be recovered. Copies and summaries already in your chats stay.

You can delete a message yourself from the reader; deletion can’t be undone.

When you forward an email with a note such as “please add this to my calendar” or “summarise this”, Gluon can act on it by itself: it starts a new chat titled with the subject and does what your note asks.

  • It acts only on mail from you or your allowed addresses, whose sender is verified, and only when your note is a clear request.
  • It follows only your note at the top of the forward; the forwarded content is never treated as instructions.
  • Your approvals still apply, so a send or similar action still asks.

Turn this off with Act on forwarded requests in the inbox settings. It’s on by default.

Choose your address first; Gluon then sends from it, as “Gluon”, with replies coming back to your inbox.

  • “Email the trip itinerary PDF to priya@example.com.”
  • “Reply to the plumber’s email and say Tuesday works.”

Sending asks for your approval by default. The approval card shows the recipients, subject, body and attachments exactly as they’ll be sent. Approvals expire after 24 hours.

  • Every recipient must be on your allowed addresses, which always include your sign-in address. One disallowed recipient stops the whole email. Approving or choosing Allow doesn’t change this; only you can edit the list.
  • Up to 11 recipients per email. Attachments can come from your Drive, inbox, workspace or the current chat.
  • Up to 30 sends a day.
  • If Gluon can’t tell whether a send went through, it says so rather than sending again; check with the recipient before asking it to resend.

A group can have its own <name>.family@ address, chosen by the group owner from the group’s Info tab. Names share one pool with personal addresses.

  • Every member can read the family inbox and download attachments, in the group’s Email tab. Read and unread are tracked per member.
  • Only the owner can choose the address, change receiving, retention and allowed addresses, or delete mail.
  • Every member’s verified sign-in address can send to it, plus up to 10 addresses the owner adds.
  • Each new email posts “📧 forwarded an email: ” in the group chat. A family inbox never acts on its own: a member asks their Gluon, such as “@Gluon add the PTA meeting from that email to our calendar.”
  • Members’ Gluons can send from the family address, which asks first by default.
