Assistants in groups

How each member's Gluon works in a group: @Gluon mentions, the auto trigger, group tool permissions, approvals, privacy and who pays.

Every member brings their own Gluon to their groups. @Gluon always asks your Gluon; nobody can ask another member’s. Custom agents don’t join groups, but your Gluon can delegate to them from a group.

Mention @Gluon in a group message: “@Gluon add the school play to our calendar on Friday at 6”. Your Gluon reads the recent conversation, does the work with the group’s tools and replies in the group under its own name, with your companion and color.

  • Your requests run one at a time, in order. Other members’ Gluons work in parallel, so nobody waits on someone else’s long request.
  • Your Gluon sees up to the last 100 messages, from when it joined the group. It never sees what was said while it was switched off or before you joined.
  • You pay for your Gluon’s work in the group, as in your private chats.
  • Stop a running request from its status card. The owner can stop anyone’s.

In a group your Gluon uses the group’s calendar, files, workspace and, if the group has an address, its inbox, plus web search and fetch. It also brings your own connectors and can recall your private chats and other groups.

Your private inbox, calendar, Drive, browser and workspace stay in your private chats. So “@Gluon what’s on the calendar” means the group’s calendar.

Your Gluon is told never to reveal your private details in the group, including facts it remembers about you and results from your connectors or private chats, unless you explicitly ask it to share them there. It uses your facts in groups only if you turn on Use my facts in groups in Settings → Memory.

When your Gluon waits for an approval, only you see what it wants to do. Other members see only that your Gluon is waiting.

Under Info → Your Gluon here, switch your Gluon off or on for that group. Everyone sees “’s Gluon left the group” or “joined the group”. While it’s off, your mentions, scheduled tasks and reminders in that group don’t run, and when it comes back it doesn’t see what was said meanwhile.

Normally your Gluon replies only when you mention it. With the auto trigger on, it can reply on its own when a member’s message is clearly a request it can help with, without anyone typing @Gluon.

  • The owner sets the group’s default: Off (the default) or On.
  • Each member can override it for their own Gluon: Group default, Off or On, I pay.
  • After a short pause in the conversation, an AI check picks whose Gluon, if anyone’s, should reply. When in doubt, nobody replies. The member whose message is answered pays for that reply.

Find it under Info → Your Gluon here → Auto trigger.

The group’s tools have their own permissions, separate from your personal ones, under Info → Your Gluon here → Tool permissions.

  • Group defaults: every member can see them; only the owner can change them.
  • Your Gluon: each member can override any group tool for their own Gluon.

By default, reading, adding events, simple reminders, shell commands and workspace files are allowed, so your Gluon can build things in the group’s workspace without asking each time. Changing or deleting events, cancelling reminders, scheduling agent tasks, sending email and resetting the workspace ask first. Your connectors and recall keep your personal settings.

Only the member who asked can approve their Gluon’s actions; the owner can’t approve on someone else’s behalf. Approvals also appear in your Needs you list.

Reminders and scheduled tasks created in a group run on the creator’s Gluon and post as it. If the creator leaves or switches their Gluon off there, they no longer post.
